Jesus' Last Week of Life: The Arrest

Jesus' Last Week of Life: The Arrest

Some Interesting Points:

1. Judas came with a large crowd of temple guards. This was contrary to a normal arrest, where the witnesses against the accused were supposed to fetch the prisoner.

2. The story goes that Peter cut off Malchus' (the high priest's servant's) ear but Jesus healed it, right before he was led away.

3. Jesus was present all that previous week in Jerusalem teaching at the Temple, and walked every night back to Bethany, about 3 miles away. Why didn't the arrest take place earlier in the week, since the authorities would need to secure execution before sunset the next day which was the first day of the Passover?

4. Jesus seemed to be waiting in the Garden of Gethsemane even though it was very late (he told the apostles three times to stay awake with him). Why?
